Down with the new, bring back the old!

The social networking giant, Facebook, has recently changed their platform to the "new" Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg, one of the Facebook founders, posted yesterday on the official Facebook blog that "almost all 100 million people around the world on Facebook are using the new design." Wow, that's a lot of people.

So what's the verdict? Are people into the changes that Facebook has made? All signs point to... NO. A number of Facebook groups have sprung up in response to the unwanted change. Below are just two examples of these groups:

These groups are not going unheard! News sources all over the world, such as the Australian Herald Sun and Forbes, have picked up on these stories. Obviously, majority of Facebook users want the old, simple, familiar version of Facebook back that we all have come to know and love.

But will Facebook listen to its displeased members or will it choose to ignore the millions that are not happy with the new format? How do you feel about the "new" Facebook? Would you rather have the option between the two platforms?

I'm not much a fan of the new Facebook, either. I find it difficult to navigate and many of the changes seem unnecessary. However, all websites and subsequently social networking sites have to change at some point. Its just part of the growing and improving that Facebook believes it needs to do to stay successful.

Looking back, when the mini-feed feature was first introduced, users reacted similarly. Groups protesting for the mini-feed to be removed were rampant, and yet the feature stuck around. I'll be interested to see how the Facebook team reacts... I find it hard to believe that they would spend so much time creating the new look to take it down later, but you never know. You can't underestimate the power of unhappy customers/users!

I've never been a fan of Facebook and to be honest with you I had no idea there even was a new Facebook and an old one!

It's pretty incredible how international this story has gotten.

I think I have a hate/love relationship with the new Facebook layout. I was very comfortable with the previous layout, therefore, knew my way of navigating the site. However, this might be a negative plus on their part, but, I do like something about the new layout: the fact that it sucks! Now, I am annoyed to get on Facebook and waste time! Haha, honestly, I will get on, check my business and get right off because I don't want to bother with learning to navigate the lack of organization they just released!

I am defintley not in favor of this "new facebook." It seems much more complex and harder to navigate through. I also feel like things are repeated on the homepage. Not necessary. But as social media progresses, I guess facebook has to too. I was talking to one of my friends the other day about how much I was annoyed with it and she made a funny comment (being totally sarcastic) that it is much harder to stalk people now.

I doubt that they will take it down though. Just as people become accustom to other social media in time, after playing around with it for a while, they will do the same with the "new facebook"

I didn't know there was a new facebook either! Not a fan of the concept. I understand that technology is continuously advancing, but I'm a fan of the theory that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

What's wrong with it? Nothing.
